This is the fourth entry to the One Four Challenge and I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go with the photograph. Last week many people decided to try to render their photo into a drawing or painting, and I thought that might be a good idea so I downloaded the program that so many were talking about: FotoSketcher … both in the portable form as well in the installation form … gave it a whirl.
First of all I cropped the photograph and then I tried the various filters .. I did like the pencil sketch pretty much, but I wanted a painting … so I saved it then ran the saved copy through the app again … this was the result:
I then saved this … went to Pixlr and PicMonkey to do the finishing touches … a little antiquing and then a picture frame and of course the signing of the photograph. This is the last effort:

Feedback is welcome!
I like it, but still prefer last week’s dark offering…. This haiku is good
Thanks Sue … I did too 😉 and I’m glad you enjoyed the haiku!
I have a feeling my week 4 will be a damp squib after the pop of colour for last week’s version!
Ah … if you mean it won’t be explosive … not to worry, even sedate posts can be magnificent!
Ah, but there’s sedate and plain dreary!!
Oh my … I haven’t been by yet, been working all day, but we’ll see … I think you might be exaggerating a tad. To tell the truth, I preferred my third process to the last one … and it was a bit of a let down, so maybe I understand your worry.
Love the crop and the painterly effect in week 4. It’s a winner 🙂
Thanks Lee … glad you think so!
wonderful work on all of them. I think #4 topped it!!!
Thanks dear lady! I still haven’t done the rounds … been a bit busy
can’t wait to see where you went.
To be honest the original image is the strongest for me, the editing in my opinion hasn’t enhanced the picture and the original stands strong by itself.
Probably right … this being practice in editing one tends to try some pretty weird stuff … but in any case each one has it’s merits as illustrations go .. and that’s basically why I take photos and edit them … besides having fun of course. Thanks for your feedback!
I love what you did. It is so original. 😀
Thanks Raewyn, it’s fun to play with photos … I’m hoping to learn how to use Photoshop this year and Santa, it seems will be bring me an electronic drawing board.
I voted wk 4. I like it’s graphic 🙂
Thanks Pike for voting and commenting too! 🙂
Oh very nice! It has a wonderful painterly feel — I really like it!
Would be neat to see the sepia tones with this week’s texture — but still — week four gets my vote! 🙂
Thanks … it was a nice experience … perhaps the sepia tones would have worked too … I’ll have to give that a whirl … Thanks for voting and the feedback.
Quite welcome! It’s a challenging photo with which to work. 🙂
Plus it inspired a prompt at MLMM — so I’d call it a win all around!
Hope you are doing well today 😀
Yes it did … and will inspire another prompt somewhere else in January … I’m doing fine but very busy and have little time to sit down at the computer. But I’m supposing everyone else is in the same boat and won’t notice that I’m just barely putting up a couple of haiku a morning.
I’ve noticed the volume of posts is way down — way, way down.
BUT — on the bright side – your choka inspired a photo (tacked to the end) that will be part of the next One/Four in January (or February).
Don’t get too stressed, okay?
Week 4 is awesome. It is a great subject for this old oil painting style. Far and away the best of all.
I really like the effects of this week’s, but my vote goes to last week’s because of how it draws me to the boat…
I love week 4…
Thanks … and I’m hoping to go and look at everyone’s contributions soon .. been having connection problems (sigh). Have a very Happy New Year …
