The world’s gone to the d …ucks
Where I live near Lake Garda in Trentino-Alto Adige we have a population of ducks that never go south. The micro-climate created by the lake makes our area an oasis in the alpine area. We have olive groves, lemon trees, banana plants and ducks.

The other day I went for a walk on the lake. At Riva del Garda, we don’t have only tourists, we also have, ducks, swans, coots, ravens, sparrows, swallows and lots of other birds which don’t come to mind right now, that have learned to live with the tourists like the “Rivani” have.
It was a nice suny day, so I decided to lay out in the sun…and who should come waddling by but two male ducks! So I slowly got my camera out and twisted around to take this group of photos:

What does spring mean to me? Warm sun … perfume scented air and children in the parks. No more coats, at last, the sun is warm again…and of course the ducks and birds in general are all ready for the maiting game!

This week Cee’s asking for flight. Over the last three weeks as I went daily to Trento’s Santa Chiara Hospital, I had the opportunity to see a lot of mercy flights come in.
Trentino-Alto Adige being a mountainous region sometimes means it’s not easy to get an emergency case to the hospital in the conventional way. Over the years, our region has decided to buy several helicopters to get to those people who need urgent care, whether because of an accident (and in the mountains there are not a few during the vacation season) or other “mundane” problems like a heart attack. Oh, and it won’t cost you a fortune if you ever need this particular sort of assistance … it’s paid in full by the Region.
