This morning I’m writing the morning haiku at Through the Eye of Bastet in honor of an inspiring photographer – Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me and I’m sure you too will enjoy her fabulous photos just click the link!
Here’s her fantastic photo:
When I saw this photo I instantly thought of Issa and wrote this haiku:
birch leaf sways
Astrakhan cloak hides
a visitor

In classical form:
a swaying birch leaf
in an Astrakhan cloak hides
a morning visitor

Thanks Robyn!
Great haiku — and Issa would LOVE that photo!
😀
I do so agree about the photo … thanks!
Wonderfully composed Georgia … and what a girgeous photo …
Thank you very much Chèvrefeuille!
Thanks for the new word : astrakhan – I went to look it up. 🙂
Both meanings… the fur of young lambs and the apple.
I heard it the first time in the title of a book a long time ago … The Astrakhan Coat and for some reason it popped into my head when I saw that photo … go figure 😉
While both meanings fit, the wings shine like a polished green apple to me 😉
Nice comment!
Thank you Georgia 😀 😀
Beautiful words – I had to look up Astrakhan as well – very fitting.
Glad you liked the poem, I certainly enjoyed your photo! I don’t know exactly why Astrakhan came to mind … but it seemed so suitable at the time … 🙂
Thank you I do 😄
It fits!
Morning!! 😃
beautiful haiku and of course the photo!!
Thanks so much!
Both versions of the haiku are fantastic, I think – and “an Astrakhan cloak” is a really wonderful image. A delightful post 🙂
Thanks Blake … it was a vision that just popped into my head.
Well, it worked marvellously. “Astrakhan cloak” is my favourite phrase of the moment – it keeps rolling around in my head 🙂
LOL … I know how that can happen … it’s like that stray song that keeps you company … ad nauseam!
