Festivals and Gatherings in Italy – June 16, 2014

Everywhere in Italy at this time of the year there are a series of festivals and open markets where one can go and have a good time.

Last week, here in Arco, we even had a Vegan Fest with street art and music.ย  The music was fine and everyone had a pretty good time.

Just one off note – I do have to admit at the time I did get a little irritated when a young woman gave a speech at the dining tent saying people who ate meat were cannibals and I don’t sympathize with people who try to make their dogs and cats vegans either, basically because I believe to each his own…

  1. It’s actually *bad* for cats and dogs. They’re meat-eaters, no matter how distasteful it is to the pet owners. And I don’t say that to be heartless — I was a vegetarian (not a vegan, though) for several years when I was younger.

    • Same here then passed through macrobiotics and finally went back to eating meat as well when I started have problems with iron etc. I think it’s really dumb how people can let their ideologies mix up their minds … dogs and cats are not meant to be vegan!

      • I had the *same* problem as a vegetarian — serious problems with anemia and lack of other vitamins. Took a bit to get used to eating meat again, but I’ve been healthier for it. BUT I think eating LESS meat is a good idea. It’s great to have a cause you believe in – and to stick to that cause – but at some point … well … leave the pets out of it!
