I promised to show you some pictures I took the other afternoon from Riva del Garda…so here we go!
These two photographs are of the same building. However the building is not owned by the same people! The building where the windows are already completed have been so for the last 5 years, it’s the building that houses the public library! The empty windows blong to someone else or perhaps many someone selse, could say. But there are two restaurants on the ground floor, one of which is closed at the moment, and the whole place has been “demolished” on the inside.
This building is in Via Andrea Maffei…it’s important to know if you come to Riva and want to go to the pharmacy (drug store) of one of several really top rate (and expensive) restaurants. The building we’re going to look at is the home of “The Maffei”, which is closed for winter as are most restaurants and hotels in this period of the year. They have decided to do some restoration work here as well. The interesting thing about these windows is that they are still the old-fashioned lead glass panes from the 1700s!
Hope you liked these windows…but as I like windows, tomorrow I’ll be showing some interesting windows I’ve collected over the years!

Great choices!
thanks
Where does everyone go if the restaurants are closed? Thanks for the pingback.
Well, let’s say most of the restaurants are closed, and they’re not usually restaurants that the local people go to anyway. Torbole, Riva del Garda and even Arco, where I live and which is about 3 kilometers from Riva live on tourists. The lake and the natural rock climbing wall as ell as treking etc creates a great influx of people from around Easter to the beginning of winter. We do have pizzareia, chinese resteraunts, fancy restaurants, kibab shops etc that stay open in the winter for us locals.
Thank goodness!
lol…I’m sure though we could survive even if all the restaurants closed down..it’s the ice cream shops that we miss!
