Photo Experiments…December 12th 2013

I like to fool around with photographs when I’ve a little spare time…and even when I don’t 😉 …here was an experiment that I did yesterday with a phoneograph.  It was getting dark, but I decided to give it the old college try.  What came out, after just adding a little high light and fill light was this photo that reminded me more of a drawing:

Have a great day…and lots of fun.  Here in Trentino, the children are geting ready for Santa Lucia…she rides on a donkey and distribute gifts…but for that part of the story, let me send you over to Bastet’s and Sekhmet’s Library!  Ciao!

Phoneography Challenge, the Phone as Your Lens: Macro

For Lens and Pens by Sally…it’s macro week, and if you click on the blog name you’ll see a wonder bit of work all from a phone!

I’m late getting to this, basically because my phone doesn’t macro very well…but even so, I had fun with these following photos, taking them and then highlighting…two were taken last night in my living room without much light,  the third on my terrace.

Well…next week maybe I’ll come up with something a little better for black and white!  In the meantime Ciao and have a great day!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Grand (2)

This week’s photo challenge as written above is about “Grand” :

“Grand. We’ve hosted a “Big” photo challenge in the past, but for this week’s challenge, we want you to consider not just the size of something, but also that special element: the “wow factor” of a scene or subject that makes a picture so stunning. That magical quality you’re always out looking for and so excited to capture with your camera.”

I went to our local casinò the other day…well, it was a casinò under the Hapsburg’s reign, but Italy, until recently prohibited gambling.  In fact, until before WWI Trentino-Alto Adige was South Tyrol…part of Austria.

Here I saw a fantastic bit of history that made me smile.  A huge projector.  I took photos of it from different angles and here they are for you:

Hope you enjoyed these as much as I did taking them!

I’ll just try to show you a bit of history through a photo.  Whether religious or whatever your religion the Catholic church for around a thousand or so years shepherded souls throughout Europe…expanding itself throughout the world in one way or another from 1200 until the present, even after the protestant schism.  You can’t go anywhere in Italy without at least a small chapel…even small towns and villages have their cathedrals of sorts.

So today I will show you Grand as in religion…here is the main church of Arco from the behind:

These photos were taken Sunday morning at 8:30.  The sun actually showed it’s face over the mountain about an hour and a half later…and I was already home warming my tootsies!

Tomorrow…I have something special…grand as in Cinema!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Let There Be Light! (5)

For this weeks DP Photo Challenge: IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO THAT FEATURES A LIGHT SOURCE.

Now for a few photos of the sun on lake Garda as promised yesterday.  I’ll remind you that for me the source of light is…the sun!  I took these photos on a very bright sunny day not long ago.  I also took three using my sunglasses to cut the glare.  The black and white photo is the same as the last photo…but I made it black and white, because I thought it’d be interesting.

But before I close this post…here is a lovely photo of Monte Velo (Veiled Mount)…the sun is setting and the light reflects  off the snow.  I didn’t do much with this app wise, just shadowed the buildings a little 😉
